Theatre

students on stage in a circle

The RMS Theatre program gives students the opportunity to explore many different areas in theatre.

Each quarter, new classes are offered which focus on anything from creating characters to playwriting to improvisation.  Classes are also offered in technical theatre areas, such as stage makeup or costume design, for students who love theatre, but don't necessarily want to be the actor on stage.  Students may choose to simply take a theatre class for one quarter and then explore other electives, or they may choose to further their skills in theatre by continuing through the other theatre classes offered in the following quarters.

Students also have opportunities to be part of productions that are prepared for evening performances in front of an audience through the Theatre Showcase and the Spring Play.  Actors for the Theatre Showcase are part of the 1st semester Performing Group class and perform at the end of January along with earlier performances throughout the school and community.  Actors for the Spring Play are selected through an audition process in February and attend after school rehearsals through the following months to prepare for their performance in mid-May.
