General Library Info

You can check out a book during your scheduled library time with your English class, or during snack, recess, or a study period.

You can also place a hold on a book in Destiny. We will pull the book as soon as it's available and put it on a cart outside the library. We will email you when it's ready to pick up.

If you want us to give your three personalized suggestions, fill out the Book Bundle form. We will email you when your books are ready and you will be able to pick them up on the cart outside the library.

You can check out books for three weeks. If you need them longer, please email us and we will renew them for you.

Ebooks and Audiobooks on Sora are checked out for two weeks and will automatically return themselves.

There is a return cart outside the library door. You can also bring your books into the library to return them.

We charge a $10 lost book fee and a $25 lost Playaway fee. These fees help us replace items so other people can read the books. This fee can be paid by cash or a check made out to the Dresden School District.

Please let us know what type of damage happened. Sometimes we are able to fix the book. Please do not try to fix it yourself. We do not charge for damaged books unless the damage was deliberate.

At the end of the 2020-2021 school year we began to pack all of the books. We emptied all the shelves and put over 12,000 books into cardboard boxes. We also emptied the circulation desk.

Next the custodians moved all the furniture out and stored it in the lobby.

Buildings and Grounds dismantled and removed all the old shelves and the circulation desk and stored those in the cafeteria.

The Renovation Begins

The old carpet was removed and a brand new carpet installed.

After the new carpet was installed, Buildings and Grounds replaced the shelves we were keeping and reinstalled the circulation desk.

We unpacked some of the books.

The new mobile shelves did not arrive until the first day of the 2021-2022 school year. And they still needed to be assembled.

Buildings and grounds had all the shelves assembled in four days!

It took us seven more school days to unpack and organize all the books. We had not gotten all of our new furniture yet, but the library was able to officially open on September 14th, 2021. 

Our library remodel allowed us to totally reorganize the books. Now our library is organized by genre. Fiction and Nonfiction books are shelved together by subject.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the 2021-2022 school year, new furniture for our classroom area and Makerspace area arrived. Like the new bookshelves, all of this furniture is mobile, meaning we can have a dynamic space that can be reorganized for different uses.

During the summer of 2022 new art was installed, finally finishing our library makeover.
