Thoughts from the Rolling Desk

The Goslings are growing up and are ready to move on!

Thank you to the families who joined us last night as we ushered our 8th graders through the beginning of the summer long migration to High School.  The outpouring of joy and support from the community was truly inspiring, and reminded us again that the strength of RMS is in people and community, and those are areas we will continue to foster.

6th and 7th grade celebrated the end of the year with bridges and beaches respectively.  Again bringing together community and fun.  Thank you to all the folks who helped make the end of the year so wonderful for all our students and staff.

The end of the year is always bittersweet, celebrating what we have accomplished but also bidding farewell to those students and adults who will be moving on at the end of this week.  We want to thank the following folks for years of service and for building the spirit and structure of RMS into what it is today.  Whether moving into retirement or on to a different opportunity we want to wish the best to the following folks:  Patti Dodds, Jeff Decker, Liz Burrows, Belinda Teo, Kim Whelan, Donielle Dixon, Mark Alloway, and Nicole Mancino.

One more of the flock is moving on after this year, and we have a unique opportunity to bid him bon voyage remotely tonight as Dan Hopkins will represent RMS on Jeopardy!  Taped in secret earlier this year, we will get to see him in action on the final day of school - a great way to end the year.

Please tune in and cheer for the Geese!

As we move into the longer (and hopefully warmer and drier) days of summer, some reminders and updates:

  • Summer Library Hours - 9:00 - Noon July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and August 5, and 12.  Join us!
  • PowerSchool updates grades and information in mid July, which means there will not be any mass emails until later in the summer (I know you are all upset).
  • When the system rolls over, please keep an eye out for a reminder from the SAU to update your registration information - something we need to do every year.
  • We encourage staff to unplug for much of the summer, so summer emails may have a significant lag in response time.  If you need immediate assistance, emailing Tim or Robin is probably the best way to go.
  • First day of school 2025-2026 - August 27th.

Thank you for a wonderful year.  May the summer be fun, restful, and full of joy.  Be well, stay safe, and take care of each other.  We geese have got this.
