Thoughts from the front office
Dear RMS Community:
It feels as if this week was really short - because it was! Not much has changed since our last installment of the Friday Focus, but it seemed better to write today than on Friday. Some quick thoughts as we head toward a longer weekend.
- Congratulations to the 8th grade, who defeated the staff team in the annual Turkey Bowl. The staff are galvanized by our first loss in recent memory, but wanted to give credit to a fantastic team effort by the 8th grade. Thank you to the fans who braved the cold as well.
- We are seeking help with our lost and found. We would like to organize and photograph numerous items so that we can try to find their rightful homes prior to the end of the year. If you have any interest, please reach out.
- In an effort to model the importance of rest and recharging, we are urging all members of the RMS community (students, staff, and parents) to unplug for the next 5 days - put an away message on your email - and enjoy time away from the building. As more and more research is revealing the long term health issues that derive from stress and the near constant pace of modern life, we hope to once again lead the way at RMS. Please join us in prioritizing healthy rest this week (I plan on watching lots of football, both American and that other football that has a world tournament this month). The one thing we can be sure of in the upcoming weeks is that we will all face multiple challenges, and rest will be important.
- In the spirit of the original meaning of thanksgiving (giving thanks), we wanted to thank our wonderful community for trusting us with your children and supporting us throughout the year.
Please enjoy the time away, stay safe, be well, and take care of each other.

ALL Together is a regional coalition that takes action to reduce the impact of alcohol and drug misuse in support of the development of healthy, safe, and resilient youth and young adults in the Upper Valley. ALL Together (AT) prioritizes the implementation of evidence based programs, policies, and practices including community engagement. AT is recognized as the Substance Misuse Prevention workgroup of the Public Health Council of the Upper Valley and is nationally recognized as a Drug Free Communities Coalition.

Hanover Hockey Association is helping the Hanover Improvement Society to reach their financial goals to break ground on the Renew Campion Project this summer. You can all participate in our first event, “A Night at The Nugget”, on December 7th at 6:30 pm. Details can be found in the attached flyer and also below. Family Programs offered by Outright Vermont
Outright Vermont (https://www.outrightvt.org/) is an organization that supports LGBTQ+ youth and families around Vermont and neighboring areas. They offer a support group for families: Trans Parent Group - Online - First Monday of every month 6-8pm. Support group for parents and caregivers of trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive youth. Prescription Medications Does your child need to take prescription medication during school hours? Students must keep all prescription medications in the health office and have a signed medication form as well. The medication form and additional information can be found here: Health Office Website

The holiday break is coming... Will your students know how to reach their friends during the free days ahead?? Look no further than the RMS PTO Directory! Click on the link to create an account for your family, or update/confirm your current info (required each year). Then download the Membership Toolkit app to use the directory when you're on the go. We currently have about half of school families listed and we'd love to get to 100%. Help us help you!
