Thoughts from the Front Office

Dear RMS Community:

Happy Solstice!  As Robin in the front office is fond of pointing out, it starts getting lighter from here!  In the midst of the stresses and joys of the season we offer the last (abbreviated) Friday Focus of 2022.

Once again, the tone is set by our amazing students and their art work.  We love our “trees” for the season.

RMS will be closed for the duration of the winter break, reopening January 3rd.  We are encouraging staff and students to craft an “out of office” email reply and decompress and restore themselves during the time away.  (For some of us the restoration will certainly involve some bowl games - geaux tigers).

Here is a quick follow up to our discussion of the drawbacks of devices and the internet from last week.  While not uplifting, we felt it important that our community knows all that we do.

Thank you to everyone for a wonderful 2022.  As we continue to evolve and grow at RMS we are grateful to be part of such a wonderful community.  We are looking forward to more opportunities to welcome the community into our building in 2023 - through admin coffees, parent roundtables, and student work presentations for the upcoming 6 months.  We hope you will join us in our celebrations of our community, or simply drop by to say hi.

Enjoy the break, have fun with your students (they are amazing), reflect on the wonderful things we have all accomplished, and look forward to a great 2023.  As always, be safe, stay well, and take care of each other.

Happy Holidays from the PTO!
This week was a chance for parents to remind the RMS teachers and staff, including night time workers, cafe workers, and bus drivers how much they are appreciated. Teachers and RMS staff enjoyed a breakfast catered by the cafe. Night time staff, cafe team, and bus drivers received a sweet treat as well. Each person also received a personalized thank you card and holiday wishes.

Thank you to the RMS community whose donations made this possible.  Special thanks to Irina Perrard,  Nikki Batra,  Karen Hsu Blatman, Tim Boyle, Austin Jacobs, Janice Starkey, and Jenn Jerit for all their logistical efforts to pull off this special celebration.    We plan to host 2 additional teacher appreciation events this school year.  Come join in on the fun!

Email richmondmiddleschoolpto@gmail.com to get involved with the PTO, including teacher and staff appreciation, grade level family socials, and international group socials.

Very importantly, we still need a Vice-President elect or co- Vice Presidents to learn about the RMS PTO leadership role and step into President(s) next year. Please reach out if you are interested.
