With some increased tension throughout the community, we wanted to end the week with a reminder of the festive season. Thank you to Janice Starkey for providing the stylish glasses that raised the spirits of RMS as the sun broke through on this wonderful Friday.
As is appropriate for the end of the last full school week of 2021, RMS was full of remarkable student work and positive energy today. From the spirited final arguments in the trials of Lenny and Ralph from Of Mice and Men, to the student designed slime that stretched over 30 feel; from the thoughtful letters outlining contact between native nations and the Lewis and Clark expedition to the caring discussion of mental health among Olympic athletes; from the multiple celebrations of music in the past two weeks to the enthusiasm displayed by students headed outside for lunch in December, RMS once again brought our focus from the outside world to the the wonder and caring inside our building. It is very often the students who teach us. We remain thankful for our community and the remarkable resilience shown by everyone connected to RMS.
Next week and the break following will surely go very quickly. Please allow your students (and yourselves) to take some time to reflect and rest. We will begin anew on January 3rd, and the calendar of the remainder of winter and spring will offer some long stretches of school with few breaks. We will need all our energy going forward, so rest should be a priority in the weeks upcoming.
Please enjoy the weekend, we are supposed to get some overdue winter. Please stay safe, be well, and take care of each other.

From Student Council
Dear Middle School Families and RMS Student Council, Our football program set a goal a week ago to provide a pickup truck load of toys to needy children during the holidays (The FILL THE TRUCK CHALLENGE). Due to your generosity we made our goal (we have collected approximately $2000 worth of toys. We would like to thank you so much and we will deliver the toys to the Tower of Toys Charity on Friday at Noon. On Saturday, needy children will get to pick their toys. We could not have achieved this goal without your support.
Happy Holidays and again a heartfelt thank you,
Coach Cavallaro, Patrick Elder(HHS Captain), Coach Ivanoski and Coach Sherman.

PTO Bulletin Board
RMS PTO Information for Friday Focus Any chance you'll be near Rutland on Monday? Our RMS Spirit Wear vendor is working diligently to overcome obstacles and get the spirit wear items printed and shipped in time for arrival at RMS before (or perhaps on) Tuesday. That said, if anyone happens to be in the Rutland area Monday and can pick up the box, that would relieve LOTS of pressure and guarantee people can get their items before break. Please reach out directly to Alexa Manning at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help.
Please join the PTO at our NEW Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/ RMSPTOFB (this is different from, and replaces, the previous PTO FB Group.)
Why not take a moment and put all the PTO meetings for the rest of the school year in your calendar? Poof! Done! Meetings are via Zoom until further notice, and the link is sent in Friday Focus the Friday before each meeting and via PTO email. Hope to see you!
