Thoughts from the Rolling Desk

The fall colors have started their descent on the upper valley, the daylight has retreated behind the 12 hour threshold, and pumpkin spice is once again becoming ubiquitous.  Autumn energy has arrived!

With fall come colder temperatures. Need a new hoodie, or some other RMS swag?  Take advantage of the RMS spirit wear sale (ending Sunday).  On that note, it is also a great time to have your student check the lost and found as we find multiple bits of warmer clothing every day (it is chilly in the mornings, but by lunch time it is too warm, and stuff gets left behind).

A quick reminder that students will have a four day weekend next week as RMS rolls into our “October break.”  Teachers will undertake professional development on Friday focusing on conscious building of community, and then the district will be out of school in observance of Indigenous People’s Day/Columbus Day on the following Monday.

Ohh the Horror bulletin board with books and skeletons on it.

A quick reminder, now that we have weathered the first 6 weeks or so of school, RMS does not have designated parent conference days like our colleagues at Ray and MCS.  However, should you wish to meet with your student’s teachers (and/or counselors, admin, etc.) at any time, please reach out and we can schedule a meeting or conference.

Have a wonderful weekend and, as always, be well, stay safe, take care of each other, and remember that we geese have got it.

Information about menus, mealtime, and application for RMS’ meal program are available here.

The RMS lunch program is run “in house” and does not follow a state or federal program.  If your family may benefit from assistance for meals, please contact Robin Morley-Ploof in the office for more information.  The program is confidential and runs the same way as the more traditional cafe meal funding program.

RMS works hard to accommodate the dietary needs of our community, so if you have any questions, concerns, please contact Austin Jacobs.
