Principal’s Message

At RMS, we recognize and celebrate student success hundreds of times each day. Our strong educators consistently acknowledge students' effort—whether it is the persistence to solve a challenge, a thoughtful contribution to a class discussion, strong performance on an assignment, or the demonstration of positive behavior. Acknowledging and celebrating growth is essential for a dynamic learning community.

This week, I want to share a story that validates the high level of achievement our staff and students reach every day.

Last March, RMS was nominated to submit an application to the National Blue Ribbon Schools program. As we had last gone through this reflective process in 1998, we decided to apply. Valuing educator voice, departments and teams drafted the application sections; Tim and I completed the whole-school portions. Our detailed, 21-page application was submitted just before April break.

We received notification of this exciting recognition over the summer. Unfortunately, when I checked to see if we had missed the formal announcement of 2025 National Blue Ribbon Schools I learned that the program was terminated in late August by the current administration. While the official award process is now incomplete, the validation of our school's excellence remains.

During our Wednesday staff meeting, I was proud to share the news of our designation and celebrate the incredible teamwork of the RMS educators, whose insights perfectly captured our school's strengths in the Blue Ribbon application. While the change at the national level means a third banner of excellence won't be hung in our upper lobby, we celebrate the fact that our school was judged to be among the nation's best.

Information about menus, mealtime, and application for RMS’ meal program are on the FRMS website. The RMS lunch program is run “in house” and does not follow a state or federal program.  If your family may benefit from assistance for meals, please contact Robin Morley-Ploof in the office for more information.  The program is confidential and runs the same way as the more traditional cafe meal funding program.

RMS works hard to accommodate the dietary needs of our community, so if you have any questions, concerns, please contact Austin Jacobs
