The Frances C. Richmond Middle School is contacted by local businesses and non-profits to make our parents aware of upcoming opportunities. We publish information that directly supports or enhances our grade 6-8 population. Please note that these are not school sponsored events.

This Land: American Engagement with the Natural World  

January 5–July 24, 2022 

This groundbreaking exhibition explores artistic responses to the natural world by diverse American artists working from the early nineteenth century to the present. Approximately 160 objects by Euro-American, African American, Latin American, Asian American and Native American artists compel us to consider new perspectives on America’s histories and to reflect on our own relationship to place and land. Appropriate for students of all ages and teachers of all disciplines, from humanities to STEM.

Teaching with Indigenous Art & Culture  

For Middle and High School Teachers 

Thursdays 4:30–6:00 pm 

January 6, January 27, February 10, March 10  

Introducing works by Native American artists into the curriculum provides opportunities to amplify Indigenous voices and enrich our understanding of America’s histories and cultures. This four-part teacher workshop series will be led by curators, educators, and guest speakers. As a community of learners, we will focus on respectful approaches to teaching with Indigenous material. Museum staff will share ways in which the museum is striving to be a thoughtful and responsive partner with tribal communities. Museum educators will facilitate teaching labs in the galleries, provide print and online resources and lots of opportunities for questions and conversation.

Space is extremely limited. Preference will be given to teachers who can commit to all four sessions. Please click here to register by December 17. 
 

Circle UP!

Circle Up! Invites all Dresden-Area Community members to participate in monthly meetings to support youth wellness, resiliency, and prevent substance misuse and suicide. Engage on whatever level feels right, bring ideas or listen to what other caregivers are thinking about. 

Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM and can be accessed via zoom. Join us February 8 at this link.

Dartmouth - Paid Tutoring

Peter Mikhlin is the tutoring operations chair for Health Access For All (HAFA), a Dartmouth College student group that offers inexpensive tutoring and donates all proceeds to organizations fighting health inequities. 

Their members offer tutoring to high school and middle school students, and help high school seniors with college essays. They are all highly qualified Dartmouth students, and all of their proceeds are donated to the nonprofits they support. This term, all of their proceeds will be sent to Good Neighbor Health Clinic, an organization providing free medical and dental care to uninsured adults in the Upper Valley. HAFA tutors can help children who need to brush up on course material, while giving families the opportunity to contribute to their own community. Due to the current pandemic, they are offering financial aid to low-income families, children of essential workers, and financial alleviation for anyone in need, as their main goal is to support the community in all ways possible. .

Full price is $30 an hour!

Friends of Hanover Norwich Schools

Please join the Friends in making our schools stronger, and supporting projects that enrich the student experience. This past year, the Friends made a major rapid-response grant to SAU70 to help underwrite Covid-19 expenses and the important work of the Equity Committee. We also increased our funding of supplies and teacher-led initiatives that will enrich the curriculum and make our schools safer. Other recent grants include funding for a district-wide curriculum review, books for young readers, science and art materials, Responsive Classroom training, and support for an LGBTQ+ workshop.
